POST-PRODUCTION

Post-production is where the raw images and sounds are edited and shaped and combined with graphics and special effects and music into the desired end product.  The steps of this process vary in duration depending on the quantity of new material and the complexity of the finished product, and can include:     

• Digitizing the new images and sounds into the computer system on which the project will be edited

• Organizing the new material, notating the best takes, transcribing interviews, loading music and graphics

• Editing a rough cut, exporting a copy for client review, revising it according to client feedback, fine-tuning it

• Mixing the music, voiceover and source audio, adding sound effects, finishing a stereo or surround mix    

• Final color correction, full resolution layoff to tape or conversion to other formats for streaming, DVD or other
